Measurments are taken from the back of the eye socket to the end of the carapace. If under 8.5mm in length the lobster must legally be returned to the water.

To prevent fighting amongst eachother when kept together, the claws are banded.

One large entrance allows the catch to be removed and for bait to be added. A rectangular smaller exit hole allows undersized lobsters to escape.

A female heavily layden with eggs carries them underneath her tail until ready to hatch. To preserve and encourage growth of future stocks these berried females are returned to the water.

Edible brown crabs locally known as chancres also inhabit the area. Their claws are disabled by the process of nicking - cutting the muscle to prevent damage being caused to other valuable stock
